Children & Youth Programs

Our children are a vital part of our community and participate fully in the life of our church. Through the transforming power of God’s love and the teachings of Jesus, we encourage our children to express their faith through compassion for others and by acts of service.

Church school

Children enjoy their time with the adults at the start of worship, joining in hymns and opening prayers, and participating in the Thought for the Children, which reflects the scripture lesson and sermon. They then move on to Church School, where they explore life’s big questions and discover meaning for their own lives in the stories of the Bible.

We draw on several curricula to craft lessons that delve into age-old Bible stories, as well as modern examples of love and justice in the world to equip our children with spiritual tools to guide them on their faith journeys. They create and play together as they experience the love which lies at the center of our faith.

Church School is a one-room setting in the parish hall, where children from the age of three learn to practice love for others by interacting with children of all ages. Childcare for infants and toddlers is offered in the same setting. Volunteers are always welcome to help in the classroom! Volunteers are submitted to background checks, according to our Safe Church Policy. Click here for information about Safe Church. To find out more about our Children’s Programs, contact Michelle or Libby via the church office at officewtiscong@gmail.com or (508) 693-2842.

baptisms

Through water at baptism, God embraces you — no matter who you are — and brings you into Christ's Church. When we baptize, we explain that the waters of baptism call forth the blessing already inside each person, granted to all through God’s gift of life. When baptizing an infant or child, the family promises to raise the child to be a reflection of God’s love and to follow in the way of Jesus. Baptisms take place during our Sunday service where these promises are shared...

confirmation

We offer confirmation classes every other year for youth in grades 8-12 who would like to deepen their understanding of the Christian faith, explore their individual beliefs and learn more about spiritual practices that will strengthen their faith. When confirmed, participants are affirmed as blessed children of God and members of Christ’s church. Their families and church community promise to help them to follow in Christ’s way- to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with our God.
